Robbie Herrick looks at the world with a critical eye. He is not afraid to roll up his sleeves, drill down into issues and put in the work to find and suggest solutions. As a teacher, I found Robbie to be supportive of the classroom and school community, and of me professionally. He has been active and involved in serving the greater FNSBSD community through the Budget Committee and he continues to ask difficult questions of the powers that be. Fairbanks would be well served with Robbie on the school board.

In talking with Robert, what stands out to me is he has real tangible ideas to literally bring teachers, families, and community members to the table and give them a voice and will listen.
I believe Robert Herrick for School Board can make meaningful, positive change in the FNSBSD. He is someone I would trust to ask the right questions, look at the facts, and make thoughtful student, parent, and educator-centered decisions our district deserves.

Hi, I’m Keiko Herrick
I was born in Fairbanks in the pink St. Joseph’s Hospital downtown, attended Old U Park, Ryan, and West Valley (class of ‘87). After getting my PhD from UAF, I worked for the Alaska Statewide Mentor Project for many years. Now I’m the FAST/BSEP Instructor for Ft. Wainwright and Ft. Greely where I’m known as “Dr. Keiko”.
I was lucky enough to go to public schools here in the Fairbanks North Star Borough when the state and district were flush with pipeline funding and Alaska teacher pay was high above the national average. Fairbanks public school students went on to become remarkable scientists (not me), artists (also not me), musicians (see previous), technical workers, and more. The potential is all here and I know with a supportive school board we can help students realize their full capabilities. Strong schools are the foundation for a thriving community.
Rob and I have been married going on 17 years. He is a hard worker and a devoted Dad who is passionate about public education.
In so many ways as a parent I have felt unheard by our current school board and administration.
As a parent of children whose school was closing, as a parent seeking solutions through charter education, and as a parent of Native kids, who have become increasingly invisible in our system, even as all data bears out lived experience, that our kids are not equally served in our schools.
I want school board members who serve the intended function of a representative board - to vet decisions and recommendations of the administration and to listen to constituents.
Robert Herick understands this and is committed to listening.
Running a school district should not be rocket science, but it has eluded so many, I think it truly is time to send in a rocket scientist - and that’s Robert’s day job. I want to see us led by the best and brightest and I think he is that.

We need Robert on the School Board, a calm measured voice of reasoning, an open mind, a curious mind, one who will join hands and figure out how to fix things and make them better!
He has studied, volunteered and attended FNSBSD meetings over a period to become aware of the issues and challenges that lie ahead, he cares!
I am proud to co-host this event, please join us in supporting Robert!

It’s not rocket science! I’m voting for the rocket scientist!
Robert Herrick has dedicated his life to evidence-based research, and I want him using those skills to help public education in Fairbanks find a way forward, to the betterment of all. Our kids deserve it, our educators deserve it, and the future of Fairbanks deserves it.
A vote for Herrick is a vote for educational excellence and leadership that listens. School Board Seat F on October 6.
